The Rating Process

There are dozens of landing page builder SAAS platforms available in the market right now. To identify the top 5, we first went through a filtering process to come up with a list of candidates worth digging our teeth into from a research perspective. These filters are the following:

  1. Is it easy to sign-up for the service? Many services we came across didn’t allow you to simply sign-up for an account without first having to talk to a sales rep first. If we found a service where we couldn’t easily sign-up for an account and test the platform, we filtered that service out.
  2. Is it easy to cancel the service? Similar idea here as the item above, only with canceling the account. If we found a service that forced us to call in to cancel instead of simply closing the account via a link inside the platform, we filtered that service out.
  3. Is the price of the tool or service a price that a startup can handle? Being startup people ourselves, we simply asked ourselves… “could we afford this service?” If the answer was no, the service was filtered out. We evaluated services based on prices that we deem reasonable.
  4. Is the functionality of the platform complex enough to handle the needs of a larger team, staff, or organization? We didn’t want to review just cheap, low-level tech. This filter was for ensuring that any service we reviewed had the capability to handle more complex problems that larger teams and organizations tend to face.
  5. Does the service or tool have a proven track record of working properly and actually has sustained a customer base over a lengthy period of time? This was an important one as you can imagine due to the constant amount of new startups in the SAAS world. We needed a filter for ensuring that we were working with platforms that could actually deliver on their promises.
  6. Is the service fully transparent as to what it actually offers? The service has to be fully transparent on its website in regards to features, prices, terms etc.

Using these filters we were able to filter out dozens of services and really focus our research on a smaller list of tools that actually had the potential of helping you. From there we proceeded to execute on the following process:

  1. We created an account with each service and tested each service
  2. We tested each service against a handful of real-life business problems to see if the service could solve each problem.
  3. We built a “Pros” and “Cons” list covering major features for each service, then rated accordingly.

We are very proud of our research process and the work we put into it. We hope that you find this research valuable and that it helps you make the right decision for your business needs!
